The American Heart Association’s “Life’s Simple 7” has taken patients to a whole new level in reducing risk and protecting against heart disease. It seems so simple and in fact, it is! The seven steps are:

  1. Being active
  2. Keeping a healthy weight
  3. Eating a healthy diet
  4. Maintaining cholesterol
  5. Keeping blood pressure down
  6. Regulating blood sugar levels
  7. Not smoking

Following these simple tips can get you one step closer to keep living the life you’ve always dreamed of. According to the study, those who followed six or seven of the tips reduced their risk of cancer by 51 percent. Those who followed four tips reported 33 percent risk reduction with 21 percent when following one or two tips.

As you can see, no matter how many of these steps you follow, results prove a huge decrease in health risks due to cancer and heart disease. It is crucial for us to engage in daily activities and diets that lead to a healthy lifestyle, becoming aware and conscious of our daily lives. But the most important rule of thumb to consider is getting regular medical treatment. Self-exams and screenings can increase your chances of discovering cancer early, resulting in immediate medical care to prevent further issues.
